Addis Ababa University

Addis Ababa University is one of the oldest universities in the country, where Tikur Anbesa Specialized Hospital is located. The university hospital is well-known as one of the largest tertiary specialised hospitals in the country and houses the largest oncology centre. Currently, the university hospital has prioritised the oncology centre as one of its centres of excellence. The oncology centre is now established as the Center of Hematology and Oncology. This centre focuses on continuous cancer care and serving the national population. Over the last few decades, it was the only centre providing radiotherapy services in the country until new regional centres joined to offer this service. It has contributed to patient care, capacity development from short-term to higher-level degrees in speciality fields, and research work. The Addis Ababa cancer registry, which is currently contributing to the national profile of cancer, is located in this centre.
