Partner updates

In May and June, UICC actively engaged with partners across a series of high-impact global events, reinforcing its shared commitment to advancing cancer control and strengthening collaborative action.

Cancer Planners Forum (14 – 16 May, Geneva)

A number of UICC partners sponsored the inaugural Cancer Planners Forum which brought together cancer control planners from nearly 50 countries. This unique gathering provided a platform for sharing best practices, strengthening national cancer control plans (NCCPs), and fostering a global community of practice. Thank you to all UICC partners who made the event possible. Read the Cancer Planners Forum report.

World Health Assembly (WHA)

The World Health Assembly provides a valuable opportunity for UICC to meet with current and potential partners in Geneva. This year, UICC hosted a dedicated partner lunch, offering the opportunity for dialogue between UICC leadership and key partners. Throughout the week UICC engaged with partners at a variety of meetings and events, including events on the Access to Oncology Medicines (ATOM) Coalition and the lung health resolution.

ASCO 2025 (Chicago)

ASCO remains a cornerstone for UICC’s partner engagement. A team from UICC including UICC President Ulrika Årehed Kågström and UICC CEO Cary Adams held a series of face-to-face meetings with both longstanding and prospective partners who share UICC’s mission to reduce the global cancer burden.

World Cancer Series Europe (Brussels)

UICC was pleased to participate in the World Cancer Series Europe in June and join in the latest discussions on aligning European cancer policies. Also at the event, UICC convened a side event which provided a valuable opportunity to connect with UICC members and partners.

These engagements reflect UICC’s ongoing commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships that drive progress in cancer control. Thank you to all UICC partners for their continued collaboration and UICC looks forward to building on this momentum in the months ahead.

World Cancer Leaders’ Summit

UICC is excited to welcome partners to the World Cancer Leaders’ Summit, taking place from 18–20 November 2025 in Melbourne, Australia. Held every two years, this invitation-only event convenes up to 400 senior leaders from across the global cancer community - including heads of UICC member organisations, ministers of health, representatives from the UN and WHO and senior leaders from UICC partners - to explore coordinated responses to the most pressing challenges in cancer control.

The 2025 edition, co-hosted by Cancer Council Victoria and partners, will centre on the theme Bridging Divides, Building Futures, offering a dynamic platform for dialogue, collaboration, and strategic alignment. UICC looks forward to welcoming both returning and new partners to this flagship event.

UICC and Bristol Myers Squibb

Bristol Myers Squibb has partnered with UICC since 2008, creating a shared value partnership. Through this partnership, Bristol Myers Squibb supports the Access to Oncology Medicines (ATOM) Coalition, UICC's mission activities, the World Cancer Congress, and World Cancer Leaders Summit.

Notably, for over ten years, the global Bristol Myers Squibb workforce has come together to demonstrate its long-standing commitment to cancer research through the C2C4C charity bike rides: Country 2 Country 4 Cancer (Europe), Coast 2 Coast 4 Cancer (United States), and Continent 2 Continent 4 Cancer (Japan and Latin America).

The tradition began in 2014 when a group of oncology employees in the US were compelled to do more for those impacted by cancer. Those efforts expanded to Europe in 2016, Japan in 2021 and Latin America in 2022.

In the US, across Europe, in Japan and in Latin America, the ride includes hundreds of employees representing more than 30 nations, who volunteer their time to train, fundraise, and participate in these epic bike rides, where their miles make more memories for cancer patients and their loved ones. Since its inception, more than $14 million USD has been donated to advance cancer research worldwide. In Europe and Latin America, the funds raised go to support UICC members in the region.
